RESEARCH INTERESTS

As a molecular scientist I´m specialized in evolutionary genetics. Currently exploring pathogen and microbiome evolution by metagenomics in human health and disease using modern and ancient sampling. Thrilled by the new innovations in next generation sequencing.

PERSONAL AWARDS:
In 2015, he received the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases 20,000€ research award for studying the evolution of oncogenic papillomaviruses infection humans.

In 2012, he received the $2,500 Geo von Krogh Award for the best presented work at the International Papillomavirus Conference awarded by the International Papillomavirus Society regarding his work on papillomaviruses causing genital warts among HIV-/+ patients.
