GEUS-LB: Development of a kit based on the GEUS system for the cancer diagnosis from liquid biopsies.
The project is funded in a RETOS-Collaboration call, in collaboration with the company Aniling (L. Coll, coordinators), Catalan Institute of Oncology (V. Moreno) and the Research Institute Germans Trias i Pujol – IGTP (M.A. Peinado). The general objective of the consortium is the development and validation of a genomic and epigenomic analysis system from liquid biopsy based on the GEUS technology of Aniling S.L. This technology would allow obtaining genetic and epigenetic information of high quality and in an integrated format, accessing the full potential of the liquid biopsy.
The project includes the development of an experimental prototype (kit + platform), defined and executed on colorectal cancer, with the aim to prove the technology’s potential in the field of medicine.
Dr. Moreno and his team will obtain biological samples and epidemiological information from healthy and colorectal cancer donors. The liquid biopsies will be processed with the developed kit, which will allow the identification and classification of genetic and epigenetic factors for personalized medicine in colorectal cancer, with potential diagnostic and/or prognostic use.
